We Clean It debunks cleaning myths.

Throughout life, humans love to play Chinese whispers which helps spread nonsense myths about cleaning. We’re going to debunk some of those pesky myths now!

Myth 1: The Universality of Bleach – False

Bleach may be a great product for cleaning the grime out of a bathroom and cleaning away the yellowness out of the tile groutings, etc., but bleach isn’t a great product for everything, for comprehensive bathroom and home cleaning, our domestic cleaning service ensures every corner is spotless using the right products..

For example, bleach has nearly no effect on greasy surfaces so isn’t an effective tool.

Myth 2: Horse Chestnuts Keep Spiders Out of the House – False

This is an old wives’ tale that spans back to the early 60s which simply isn’t true. It is true, however, to use some lemon spray on the cracks they may enter from to repel those critters.

Myth 3: Putting Shaving Foam on Bathroom Mirrors Stops It from Steaming Up – True!

This one even surprised me when I tried it, but simply spray some shaving cream onto a microfibre cloth and wipe over the mirror until it is streak-free. The next time you shower, it won’t steam up!

Myth 4: Putting a Dry Tea Bag in My Shoes Deodorises Them – False

This doesn’t do much at all except waste a perfectly good tea bag! You’re better off buying a good deodoriser product or simply put them in for a wash!

Myth 5: Lemon is Great at Cleaning Your Dishwasher – False

Although lemon is a great limescale cleaner, it’s just simply not enough to make an impact on your dishwasher. A better alternative would be to use a citric acid-based dishwasher cleaner that would dispel any buildup of limescale and odor.

Myth 6: Vinegar is a Great Disinfectant – False

Although there have been studies that show vinegar dispels a small amount of bacteria, it’s definitely not reliable enough to remove the amount you need to avoid illness or any other nasty viruses. It’s much more effective to buy a certified disinfectant product that’s guaranteed to remove 99% of bacteria.

Understanding the truth behind common cleaning myths can save you time, money, and effort, ensuring that you use the most effective methods and products for keeping your home clean and safe.
