Cleaning Hack 1: Clean tools & materials go a long way
The absolute essential information anybody needs to know first is to make sure your cleaning tools and equipment are clean.
I know that sounds pretty obvious but having a fresh clean microfibre cloth goes a long way compared to cloths that have been hanging on the side of your kitchen unit for days.
Clean and dry microfibre cloths are my best friends when it comes to cleaning all my windows and TV screens to rid all those pesky fingerprints.
Cleaning Hack 2: Cleaning your oven
In 2024, people don’t like to use harsh cleaning chemicals to clean their houses, and I don’t blame them!
A great tip for cleaning one of the hardest parts of the house, the oven, is to fill an oven-friendly bowl with hot water and lemon and leave it in the oven for an hour at a high temperature. After an hour you’ll be able to wipe away the beginning parts of carbon build up.
Bear in mind this only works if you’re regularly on top of cleaning your oven. Once the black carbon has set in then this wont work.
Cleaning Hack 3: Henry Hoover Attachments
Another good tip is to use your Henry Hoover attachements! People often forget to use these great tools and honestly these have saved me so much time in the past. My favourite is to use the brush attachement as this is great for dusting blinds and also getting all the crumbs out of drawers and cabinets.
It’s so important for me to have a clean fridge and I often find that people forget that you can put the shelves and the drawers in the dishwasher to get them extra clean!
Cleaning Hack 4: Line your salad drawer
Then I’ll use an earbud to squeeze in between the lining of the drawers to get the bits of debris wedged in between that ruin my clean aesthetic look. Also, a great little tip that I do, is to line my salad drawer with kitchen paper so that when you’re removing the veg to clean the drawer it’s easier to remove the veg debris.
Cleaning Hack 5: Give your washing machine a break
Give your washing machine a day off one day and let it clean itself to keep it in tip-top shape. To do this make sure there’s no clothes inside the machine and no detergent in the drawer then place it on 60 degrees or above for an hour to clean all the grime away.
